Leesburg, VA - September 2005: CCI announces the completion and grand opening of The Golf Club at Lansdowne for Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, Virginia. The impressive 43,000 sq. ft. Virginia Country House styled Clubhouse adds a true landmark to the world-class Lansdowne Resort and conference center and blends beautifully with the resort’s luxurious amenities including an expansive 305 room hotel, two championship golf courses, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis, spa, and fitness facilities. The clubhouse serves both private club members and Lansdowne’s resort guests.
Overlooking the Potomac River Valley, surrounded by a beautiful forest, this magnificent two-level clubhouse evokes the feel of a comfortable country estate through the use of natural exterior materials including stone gables, antique “Old Dominion” brick, and copper standing-seam accent roofs. The clubhouse is connected to the adjacent 9-story hotel by a new covered walkway, providing easy access for members and resort guests. A large natural stone Porte Cochere defines the club’s main entry and welcomes members as they arrive.
As requested by the client, the interiors of the clubhouse depart from the traditional country club furnishings and lean to a more transitional style while still providing a comfortable residential feel. CCI’s interior designers chose a scheme for the clubhouse based on the vivid colors of spices including curry, cayenne, elderberry, and oregano with saffron accents.
Located on the main level of the clubhouse are the lounge and dining spaces including the living room, ballroom, grill, bar lounge, and private dining room. The Living Room is a warm space with wood floors, full height wood bookcases, a fireplace, and comfortable seating arrangements perfect for quiet conversations or drinks before dinner. Walls are adorned with hand painted wallcovering in a ginger color with gold leaf highlights. Mahogany furniture with ebonized accents adds a cozy feel to this room. The vivid color scheme can be experienced throughout the upholstery and window treatments. A collection of hand blown glass accessories are displayed throughout the room.
The Grill and its adjacent expansive covered dining terraces will easily become a popular gathering and dining space. The terrace overlooks an unparalleled view of the Potomac River Valley and the club’s two championship golf courses. A large fireplace embedded in a stone wall provides a distinctive architectural accent for the Grill. The color scheme is repeated in the room within the geometric patterns of the carpet and dining chairs. Roman blinds constructed of various colors of richly colored ducking seamed together, provide a simple yet striking window treatment. Table tops have a burl wood pattern surrounded by a solid maple band in a contrasting stain.
The same color scheme and similar furnishings extend into the adjacent bar lounge highlighting the same fantastic views as from the Grill. The bar lounge is anchored on one end by a large red oak bar with a beautiful granite countertop and oak bookshelves on the other end, giving this room a distinctive library feel. Flat screen plasma TVs play a dominate role in the design of the bar’s built-in cabinets and woodwork.
